Khenpo Thubten Lodru Nyima Rinpoche
Khenpo Thubten Nyima Lodru, born in 1967, into a nomadic family
in north-eastern Tibet, the region of Amdo, is the third child of Chödrak, his father, and Lhatcham Yak, his mother. He has five brothers and two sisters. His father taught him the alphabet. When he was young he developed, based on a deep sadness, a renunciation of the cycle of existence and a great interest in the Dharma. At the age of 15 he went to Samye monastery, took the vows of a monk and then returned to his family.
At 16, he enrolled at the University of Dzogchen Shri Singha, where he studied for 15 years the sutras, tantras and the 10 traditional disciplines with Khenchen Pentsé Rinpoche, Khenchen Rinpoche, Khenchen Dawe Oser and Tsering Nyima Rinpoche. He received from Choktrul Drukpa Rinpoche and Kyabje Pema Kalsang Rinpoche empowerments and instructions. Atchung Thokden Rinpoche introduced him to the nature of the mind. After his studies, he obtained the title of Khenpo (Doctor of Buddhist philosophies) and he returned every year to his home before he left for Belgium where he teaches.
